Indianapolis, IN – Central Indiana residents can expect an unusually warm stretch of late October weather this week, with afternoon temperatures climbing toward 80 degrees by Thursday as dry conditions and sunshine dominate the forecast.
According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, pleasant fall weather will continue from Sunday, Oct. 25, through Thursday, Oct. 29, with temperatures remaining above seasonal averages across much of the region.
Temperatures Climb Through the Week
Sunday will bring mostly sunny skies with afternoon highs reaching the lower to middle 70s.
Monday's temperatures are expected to climb into the middle 70s, followed by another mild afternoon Tuesday with highs in the lower to middle 70s.
Cloud cover will increase late Tuesday afternoon, with mostly cloudy conditions expected through sunrise Wednesday.
Despite the temporary increase in clouds, temperatures will remain mild.
Wednesday could see highs reaching the middle to upper 70s before Thursday delivers the warmest conditions of the forecast period, with temperatures in the upper 70s to around 80 degrees.
Patchy Morning Fog Possible
While afternoons will remain unusually warm, overnight temperatures are expected to drop into the middle 40s to lower 50s.
The Weather Service also warns that patchy fog could develop in low lying areas during late night and early morning hours.
Motorists traveling through rural valleys and other fog prone locations should remain alert for occasional reductions in visibility.
Winds are expected to remain generally below 15 mph throughout the period, limiting significant weather disruptions.
The extended stretch of dry weather should provide favorable conditions for outdoor activities, fall festivals and Halloween preparations across Indianapolis and surrounding central Indiana communities.
No significant rainfall is indicated in the Weather Service's Sunday through Thursday outlook.
