Indianapolis, IN – Drivers across central Indiana should prepare for patchy fog overnight Monday, Oct. 26, into Tuesday morning, with locally dense conditions potentially reducing visibility during the early commute before temperatures climb into the 70s later this week.
According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, patchy fog is expected to develop overnight across central Indiana, with some locations potentially experiencing locally dense fog.
Forecasters expect temperatures to fall between 47 and 50 degrees Monday night under partly cloudy skies.
The developing fog could create reduced visibility on highways, rural roads and other travel routes, particularly during the early morning hours Tuesday.
Motorists traveling through Indianapolis, Marion County and surrounding central Indiana communities should remain alert for changing visibility conditions.
Drivers encountering dense fog should reduce speeds, increase following distances and use low beam headlights rather than high beams.
Tuesday, Oct. 27, will begin with areas of morning fog before partly cloudy skies develop later in the day.
Afternoon temperatures are expected to reach between 73 and 75 degrees, continuing a stretch of relatively warm late October weather.
Wednesday, Oct. 28, should bring partly cloudy conditions and even warmer temperatures, with highs ranging from 74 to 77 degrees.
By Thursday, Oct. 29, sunshine is expected to dominate the forecast as afternoon temperatures climb between 75 and 79 degrees.
The National Weather Service expects warm and dry weather to persist through Thursday, providing favorable conditions for outdoor activities once the early morning fog clears.
While locally dense fog is possible overnight, the forecast graphic does not indicate that a widespread dense fog advisory has been issued.
Residents should monitor updated weather forecasts and any additional visibility alerts before traveling Tuesday morning.
