Indianapolis, IN – A 15 year old boy has been arrested months after a shooting and robbery on Indianapolis' east side left a man dead, police announced Monday.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department , homicide detectives arrested the teenager Sunday in connection with the June 9 shooting in the 2200 block of North Mitthoefer Road. The arrest came with assistance from IMPD's Violent Crimes Unit, K9 officers and North District officers.
Police said East District officers were dispatched to the area shortly after 1 a.m. June 9 following a report of a person shot. Officers found an adult man suffering from injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.
Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to an area hospital in critical condition, according to IMPD. He later died from his injuries, prompting homicide detectives to take over the investigation.
Investigators subsequently identified a 15 year old male suspect. Detectives presented their findings to the Marion County Prosecutor's Office, and authorities obtained a warrant alleging murder and robbery resulting in serious bodily injury.
On Sunday, Oct. 5, detectives and officers located the teenager in the 3500 block of East 38th Street and arrested him without incident, IMPD said.
Because the suspect is a juvenile, police did not identify him in the announcement. The allegations remain accusations, and the teen is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
The investigation was identified by IMPD under case number IP260045244.
