Indianapolis, IN – Indiana could go from a dry start to the weekend to soaking rain by Sunday as the remnants of Tropical Storm Isaias potentially track into the Ohio Valley.
According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, tropical remnants are likely to affect the Ohio Valley this weekend, although uncertainty remains over the system's exact track and resulting impacts across Indiana.
Dry and quiet weather is expected through much of Saturday. Wednesday's highs range from 79 to 84 degrees, followed by highs of 74 to 81 Thursday and 75 to 83 Friday. Saturday could warm into the lower to middle 80s before conditions begin changing.
Rain chances increase to around 30% Saturday , then jump to above 70% Sunday as tropical moisture potentially spreads across the state.
Some portions of Indiana could receive more than 1 inch of rain , with the greatest chances currently focused on southeastern Indiana. A shift in the remnants' eventual track could change where the heaviest rainfall develops.
Sunday will also turn cooler, with forecast highs generally between 70 and 73 degrees.
The National Weather Service said severe weather is not expected at this time, making heavy rainfall the primary concern if the current forecast holds.
Residents across Indianapolis, Marion County, central Indiana and the broader Ohio Valley should continue monitoring updates before making weekend travel or outdoor plans. Forecast confidence should improve as Isaias approaches the Gulf Coast and its eventual inland path becomes clearer.
Drivers encountering heavier rain Sunday should be prepared for reduced visibility and ponding on roads, particularly where repeated bands of rain develop.
