Indianapolis, IN – A major multistate law enforcement operation targeting criminal activity along commercial transportation routes has resulted in 28 arrests, dozens of criminal charges and significant drug seizures by Indiana State Police.
According to Indiana State Police, the agency's Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division recently completed its participation in Operation Guardian , a coordinated enforcement initiative conducted Oct. 26 28 across Indiana and 15 other states.
The three day operation focused on secondary highways and bypass routes that authorities say criminals may use to avoid enforcement activity along major interstate corridors.
Indiana troopers reported 28 criminal arrests and 36 charges , including 18 felony charges and 18 misdemeanor charges.
Drug seizures included 124.5 pounds of cannabis, 6.1 grams of methamphetamine, 1.3 grams of fentanyl and 4.5 grams of other illicit substances.
The enforcement effort also placed significant attention on commercial vehicle safety.
Troopers conducted 501 commercial motor vehicle inspections , identifying 136 out of service violations.
As a result, 85 commercial vehicles and 51 drivers were placed out of service for identified violations.
Eight of the driver related out of service findings involved English language proficiency requirements, according to the agency.
Operation Guardian brought together law enforcement personnel from Indiana, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee and Texas.
The coordinated operation was designed to disrupt criminal transportation activity across state lines while strengthening enforcement along routes used by commercial vehicles.
Indiana State Police said the initiative supports Gov. Mike Braun's public safety priority of developing a comprehensive statewide drug interdiction strategy.
Officials did not identify the specific Indiana highways where arrests occurred or provide individual case details in the announcement.
The figures released represent Indiana State Police enforcement results, not combined totals from all 16 participating states.
The reported criminal charges remain allegations, and those arrested are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
