INDIANAPOLIS — A warm start to November will peak near 75 degrees Tuesday before a wetter pattern develops Tuesday night and Wednesday, bringing showers and a chance of thunderstorms across central Indiana.
The National Weather Service forecast for Indianapolis calls for a high near 69 Sunday, Nov. 1, with mostly cloudy skies and only a slight chance of sprinkles. Temperatures ease to around 65 Monday before jumping sharply to approximately 75 Tuesday, Nov. 3 .
75° Warmth Arrives Tuesday Sunday night carries only a 20% shower chance with a low near 52. Monday remains mostly cloudy with a slight shower chance during the morning and a high around 65.
The warming trend accelerates Monday night as temperatures only fall to around 56.
Tuesday turns partly sunny and substantially warmer, reaching near 75. South winds of 11 to 15 mph could gust as high as 30 mph , adding to the increasingly active setup ahead of the next system.
That makes Tuesday the standout temperature day of the first week of November in Indianapolis.
Rain, Storms Return Nov. 3–4 Showers become likely Tuesday night, mainly after 1 a.m., with precipitation chances increasing to 60% and temperatures falling only to around 58.
Wednesday becomes the wettest day in the current forecast.
The Weather Service lists an 80% chance of showers with a possible thunderstorm Wednesday, Nov. 4 , with a high near 69. South winds could gust as high as 24 mph.
Rain remains likely Wednesday night with a 60% chance before gradually decreasing Thursday. Thursday carries a 40% rain chance, mainly during the morning, with a high near 66.
Rain chances fall further Friday before Saturday trends partly sunny with a high around 62.
Warmth Still Favored Through Nov. 14 The midweek rain does not change the broader November temperature story.
NOAA's outlook favors above normal temperatures across the Midwest during Nov. 8–14 , while precipitation trends toward below normal across a broad region extending through portions of the Midwest and Ohio Valley.
That supports a warm but potentially quieter second week pattern after Indianapolis' wetter Nov. 3–5 stretch.
The outlook does not mean every day will be warm or dry. Individual cold fronts, chilly nights and rain remain possible. It means average temperatures during Nov. 8–14 are favored above normal while total precipitation is tilted below normal.
For Indianapolis, the first week progression is clear: 69 Sunday, 65 Monday, 75 Tuesday, storms Wednesday, then gradually cooler and quieter weather into the weekend.
As Thanksgiving and holiday travel season approach, the larger question becomes how long November warmth can continue before Indiana gets its first sustained taste of winter.
