Gary, IN – A 34 year old man from Justice, Illinois, was killed in a motor vehicle accident in Gary on Monday, September 14, 2026. The victim has been identified by the Lake County Coroner's Office as Conez Harrell.
According to the Lake County Coroner's Office, officials were notified of the incident at approximately 8:16 p.m. on Monday. Emergency responders were dispatched to the intersection of 5th Avenue and Johnson Street.
Harrell was pronounced dead at the scene by a deputy coroner at 8:40 p.m. The investigation into the incident involved personnel from the Gary Police Department and the Gary Fire Department .
A preliminary report issued by the coroner's office states that the cause of death was determined to be multiple blunt force injuries resulting from a collision between a pedestrian and a motor vehicle. The manner of death has been ruled an accident.
