The City of Gary announced Aug. 14 that the 2026 Gary Air Show has been canceled because of damage from recent severe storms. City officials said resources needed to host the event are being redirected to recovery work and repairs to public infrastructure.
Officials said the decision was made as crews continue restoration and maintenance work across the city. The city cited public safety and the need to focus personnel and resources on storm recovery as reasons for canceling the event.
