Fort Wayne, IN — Northern Indiana residents can expect another stretch of dry, mild fall weather through the weekend, but areas of fog developing Thursday night could create reduced visibility for drivers, particularly east of the Interstate 69 corridor.
According to the National Weather Service Northern Indiana office, temperatures will remain above seasonal averages through the weekend, with the warmest conditions expected Sunday and Monday. Sunshine will dominate much of the forecast, although overnight fog remains a concern.
Thursday's forecast calls for afternoon highs between 67 and 72 degrees following areas of patchy morning fog.
By Thursday night, temperatures will drop into the 40 to 44 degree range as fog develops again, especially across communities east of I 69.
Drivers traveling overnight or early Friday should remain alert for changing visibility, particularly along rural highways and low lying roadways where fog can develop.
Friday, Oct. 23, will bring mostly sunny skies and afternoon temperatures ranging from 66 to 72 degrees.
The pleasant weather pattern will continue Saturday, Oct. 24, with mostly sunny conditions and highs between 65 and 71 degrees.
Sunday, Oct. 25, is expected to bring another mild afternoon, with temperatures climbing between 68 and 74 degrees.
Forecasters indicate that Sunday and Monday will feature the warmest conditions of the extended period, although the supplied outlook does not provide specific Monday temperatures.
The prolonged dry pattern should offer favorable conditions for outdoor recreation, fall yardwork and weekend activities throughout northern Indiana, including the Fort Wayne area and surrounding communities.
While no significant precipitation is highlighted in the forecast through Sunday, motorists should pay particular attention to the possibility of fog Thursday night.
