Fort Wayne, IN – Temperatures could fall into the 30s across northern Indiana Monday night into Tuesday morning, bringing a chance of frost, especially north of U.S. 6.
According to the National Weather Service Northern Indiana, forecasters are monitoring frost potential as temperatures turn cooler following a warmer Sunday. Dry weather is expected to prevail through the period.
Sunday will be the warmest of the next several days, with highs ranging from 67 to 74 degrees. Conditions could become breezy north of U.S. 6, while overnight lows are forecast between 40 and 45 degrees.
Cooler temperatures return Monday. Highs are expected to range from 62 to 68 degrees, followed by lows falling into the 30s and lower 40s Monday night into early Tuesday.
Tuesday morning lows are forecast between 36 and 40 degrees across the region. The NWS said morning frost will be most possible north of U.S. 6, where temperatures are expected to be coldest.
The forecast indicates frost is possible rather than certain, and the NWS graphic does not show a Frost Advisory or Freeze Warning. Temperatures are also forecast to remain generally above the 32 degree freezing mark.
Tuesday afternoon should remain cool and dry, with highs again ranging from 62 to 68 degrees.
Residents with frost sensitive plants, particularly across far northern Indiana, should monitor updated forecasts through Monday as forecasters refine temperatures and the extent of Tuesday morning's frost potential.
