Northern Indiana – Another chilly night is expected across northern Indiana and southern Michigan on Sunday, October 18, with frost possible in several communities before a noticeable warming trend brings afternoon temperatures into the upper 60s and lower 70s this week.
According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, crisp and frosty conditions are expected Sunday night into Monday morning. Frost advisories remain in effect for portions of the region, although the growing season has already ended in southern Michigan.
Temperatures Could Fall Into the 30s Tonight Forecasters expect overnight temperatures to drop between 36 and 40 degrees across the forecast area.
While those readings remain above freezing, frost can still develop on exposed surfaces when temperatures near the ground become colder than official air temperature readings.
Residents in areas where the growing season continues should consider protecting sensitive outdoor plants, particularly in sheltered and low lying locations.
The National Weather Service advises residents to monitor local frost advisories for specific coverage and expiration times.
Warmer Weather Arrives Monday Following the chilly start, temperatures will rebound Monday under mostly sunny skies.
Afternoon highs are expected to reach 63 to 69 degrees, with overnight lows between 35 and 40 degrees.
Tuesday brings additional warming, with highs climbing into the 65 to 71 degree range.
By Wednesday, temperatures could reach 66 to 73 degrees, marking a substantial improvement from the chilly overnight conditions.
Dry Conditions Continue Through Midweek High pressure is expected to maintain generally dry and pleasant fall weather across the region.
Wednesday morning lows should moderate into the 40 to 45 degree range, reducing the widespread frost potential compared with Sunday night.
Residents can expect comfortable afternoons for outdoor activities, although mornings will remain noticeably cooler.
The National Weather Service encourages residents to check updated local forecasts as temperatures and frost conditions can vary between communities.
