According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, periods of rain are expected Thursday evening into Friday, with the best chance for additional rainfall Friday shifting west of Interstate 69 as lake effect showers develop.
Rain Chances Remain Highest West of I 69 Thursday night's temperatures are expected to fall between 36 and 44 degrees across the region, creating a chilly and damp start to Friday.
Rain probabilities Friday vary significantly depending on location.
South Bend and La Porte have approximately a 66% to 70% chance of precipitation, while Goshen is near 52% and Rochester is around 54%.
Farther east, rain chances drop considerably, with Fort Wayne near 14%, Angola around 13% and Jackson, Michigan, near 24%.
The greatest potential for lingering showers will be closer to Lake Michigan, where lake effect precipitation could continue into Friday.
Friday afternoon temperatures are forecast to reach 48 to 52 degrees across northern Indiana.
Motorists traveling along I 69, U.S. 30 and other regional highways should remain alert for wet pavement and reduced visibility during periods of rainfall.
Dry Weather Returns Saturday Conditions are expected to improve Saturday as drier air spreads across northern Indiana.
Saturday afternoon temperatures should reach 49 to 53 degrees, with overnight lows ranging from 33 to 39 degrees.
The National Weather Service expects dry weather to continue through the weekend and into the middle of next week, offering an extended break from rainfall.
