Fort Wayne, IN – Dry, pleasant weather continues across northern Indiana Wednesday, Oct. 7, with temperatures climbing well into the 70s and reaching the lower 80s in the warmest locations.
According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, afternoon highs are expected to range from 69 to 81 degrees across its forecast area. The warmest conditions are expected south and west, while cooler readings remain farther north and east.
The forecast continues a stretch of dry early October weather, with the NWS graphic showing partly cloudy to mostly sunny conditions Wednesday.
Temperatures will vary considerably across the region, with a difference of more than 10 degrees possible between the coolest and warmest locations. The NWS expects the upper 60s on the cooler end of the forecast area, while communities in the warmer south and west could reach the low 80s.
Wednesday night will bring a noticeable cooldown after the warm afternoon. Overnight lows are forecast to range from 49 to 54 degrees, putting much of the area back into the upper 40s and lower 50s by early Thursday.
No significant precipitation or hazardous weather is highlighted in the NWS outlook provided.
For residents heading outdoors Wednesday, the main weather feature will be the warm afternoon followed by a cooler night. Expect dry conditions to continue, with temperatures falling roughly 20 to 30 degrees from Wednesday's warmest afternoon readings into the overnight period.
