Carbon, IN – Drivers traveling through northern Clay County should prepare for a temporary road closure Wednesday, October 14, as transportation crews conduct pipe replacement work near State Road 59, just south of Carbon.
According to the Indiana Department of Transportation INDOT West Central District, County Road 1350 N will be closed for several hours Wednesday between State Road 59 and Murphy Road.
The closure is necessary to allow crews to replace a pipe on State Road 59.
Road Closure Scheduled for Wednesday
Motorists who regularly use County Road 1350 N should plan for the temporary restriction and consider alternate routes before traveling through the area.
INDOT has not announced a specific start time or reopening time for the closure, only indicating that the work is expected to take a few hours.
The affected section is located south of Carbon, a community in Clay County in west central Indiana, north of the Terre Haute metropolitan area.
Although the closure is temporary, drivers traveling between local roads and State Road 59 could experience interruptions while crews complete the replacement.
Local Residents Will Maintain Access
INDOT confirmed that residents living along the affected roadway will continue to have access to their homes during the closure.
However, through traffic will need to use alternate routes until the road reopens.
