Wood Dale, IL – The Wood Dale Fire Protection District responded to a residential structure fire on the 400 block of Royal Oaks on September 14, 2026. Emergency crews were dispatched at 21:23 hours and found smoke emerging from the roof of a two story single family home.
Firefighters quickly located and extinguished the fire, which was contained to the attic space. While the primary blaze was kept in the attic, the residence sustained water damage on lower levels due to ongoing suppression efforts. Operations were completed by 22:47 hours.
Officials confirmed that no civilians or firefighters were injured during the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The department took the opportunity to remind the public of the importance of maintaining functioning smoke detectors in their homes.
The Wood Dale Fire Protection District received assistance from the Addison Fire Protection District, Bensenville Fire Protection District, Itasca Fire Protection District, Elk Grove Fire Department, Villa Park Fire Department, Wood Dale Police Department , and the Addison Consolidated Dispatch Center.
