Winnebago, IL – With the 2026 holiday season approaching, the Winnebago Police Department is asking residents to help bring Christmas cheer to local children through its annual Toys for Tots donation drive.
According to the Winnebago Police Department, officers are once again partnering with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation to collect new, unopened and unwrapped toys for children during the holiday season.
The department announced the campaign Sunday, Nov. 1, encouraging community members to participate as holiday preparations begin across Winnebago County and the greater Rockford area.
Where Residents Can Donate Toys
Residents interested in contributing can drop off donations at the Village of Winnebago, located at 108 W. Main St. in Winnebago, Illinois.
The designated collection location accepts donations Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
For residents unable to visit Village Hall during those hours, the police department is offering additional flexibility.
Community members can contact the department directly through social media or approach a Winnebago police officer to coordinate a donation drop off when officers are available.
Police Hope to Make 2026 Their Biggest Year Yet
The annual initiative has become a recurring holiday tradition for the department, with police reporting that community participation has continued growing over the years.
Officers hope the 2026 campaign will surpass previous efforts and provide additional holiday support for children and families.
The department emphasized that anyone is welcome to contribute, regardless of the number of toys donated.
Residents throughout Winnebago and surrounding communities are encouraged to participate as the holiday season approaches.
Those interested in helping can follow the Winnebago Police Department's official Facebook page for additional information about the campaign.
