Wheaton, IL – Residents seeking elected office in Wheaton will soon be able to file candidate petitions for three municipal positions ahead of the city’s 2027 election.
According to the City of Wheaton, candidate petition filing begins Monday, Oct. 19, and continues through Monday, Oct. 26. Petitions will be accepted at the City Clerk’s Office, 303 W. Wesley St., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding weekends and holidays.
The filing period covers candidates seeking one of three positions scheduled for the 2027 municipal election.
One four year mayoral position will be on the ballot, along with two four year councilmember at large positions, according to the city.
Wheaton’s general municipal election is scheduled for April 6, 2027.
The city said a primary election will be held Feb. 23, 2027, if one is necessary based on the number of candidates who file for office.
The upcoming filing period marks an early step in Wheaton’s 2027 municipal election process, giving prospective candidates a limited window to submit their nomination petitions.

Wheaton is the county seat of DuPage County and is located in Chicago’s western suburbs.
