Wheaton, IL – DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin and Addison Chief of Police Roy Selvik announced on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, that three juveniles have been charged with threatening an Addison junior high school. The suspects include a 14 year old female from Lombard and two 12 year old females from Addison.
According to prosecutors, the Lombard juvenile appeared in court on September 9, 2026, where she was placed on home detention with electronic monitoring. Her next court date is September 25, 2026. The two Addison juveniles appeared in court on September 14, 2026, and September 16, 2026, respectively. Both were also placed on home detention, with one scheduled for further proceedings on October 23, 2026.
The investigation began after students at the Addison juvenile's school allegedly overheard a conversation regarding a plot. Authorities claim a video showed a hand drawn map of Indian Trail Junior High School with simulated scenes of violence. The Lombard juvenile allegedly transmitted threats via Snapchat and WhatsApp on August 29, 2026, claiming she planned to carry out a school shooting in 2030.
State's Attorney Berlin commended the students who reported the conversation, stating that their actions likely prevented a tragedy. The Lombard juvenile is charged with a Class 4 Felony of Disorderly Conduct, while the two Addison juveniles each face two counts of the same charge.
Officials emphasized that the charges are not proof of guilt and that the juveniles are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The investigation was conducted by the Addison Police Department with support from the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office.
