Watseka, IL – A public safety leadership opportunity is now available in Iroquois County, where officials are seeking a director to oversee the county's emergency telephone system, with an annual salary ranging from $55,000 to $80,000.
According to a job announcement shared by the Iroquois County Sheriff 's Department, the county's Emergency Telephone System Board is accepting applications for an Emergency Telephone System ETS director through Monday, November 2, 2026.
The position is based in Watseka and involves managing the implementation, operation and maintenance of the county's computerized 911 emergency telephone system.
The director will oversee administrative, managerial and technical operations supporting emergency communications for law enforcement, fire departments and emergency medical services.
Responsibilities include supervising personnel, managing department budgets, coordinating training and ensuring compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
The director will also prepare annual budgets, oversee grant funding and work with government officials and community partners to maintain emergency communications services.
According to the posting, candidates should have at least two years of experience in telecommunications systems or an emergency management related field.
An associate degree in business administration, public safety administration, telecommunications or a related field is recommended.
The position also requires the director to maintain 24/7 availability as an emergency contact.
