Urbana, IL – Halloween thrills are coming to Meadowbrook Park this month as Urbana police, firefighters and community organizations prepare a First Responders Haunted Trail featuring separate experiences for different scare levels.
According to event organizers, the First Responders 2026 Haunted Trail will take place Friday, Oct. 23, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Meadowbrook Park in Urbana.
The Urbana Police Department and Urbana Fire Department are presenting the event alongside community partners, including the Urbana Park District, Urbana School District 116, Champaign Urbana Mass Transit District and Hope Center.
Organizers are planning two trails , giving visitors a choice between a friendly experience and a scarier option. The setup is designed to make the Halloween event accessible to families while still providing a more frightening experience for those looking for extra scares.
Ahead of the event, organizers said Tuesday they are still actively seeking candy donations for the haunted trail. Residents and community supporters are being encouraged to contribute as preparations continue.
The event offers Champaign County families an opportunity to meet local first responders and community organizations in a Halloween setting at one of Urbana's best known parks.
Meadowbrook Park is located in southern Urbana and features an extensive network of trails and open spaces. The haunted trail event is scheduled to run for two hours Friday evening.
Families interested in attending should mark their calendars for Friday, Oct. 23 , with activities beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Additional information about candy donations and event updates is expected to be available through participating Urbana agencies as the event approaches.
