Tinley Park, IL – The Village of Tinley Park and the South Cook County Mosquito Abatement District have announced an emergency plan to conduct adult mosquito control operations throughout the community. The initiative follows the detection of elevated levels of the West Nile virus within the area.
According to the Village of Tinley Park Public Safety department, the spraying operations are scheduled to take place on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, and Wednesday, September 9, 2026. Treatment is slated to occur during the evening hours, specifically between 7:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. local time. Officials emphasize that the schedule is subject to change based on weather conditions.
The designated treatment zones encompass portions of Tinley Park located within the boundaries of Bremen and Orland Townships. Residents in these areas are advised that the abatement efforts are intended to mitigate public health risks associated with the recent spike in viral activity. Authorities have clarified that no forest preserve areas are included in this specific round of treatments.
Local officials are reminding the public to take standard precautions against mosquito bites during this period. For further information or updates regarding village services and public health announcements, residents are encouraged to monitor local government communication channels.
