Tinley Park, IL – Tinley Park will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks Friday morning with a Patriot Day ceremony honoring those who died and remembering the lasting impact of the attacks.
According to the Village of Tinley Park, the ceremony will begin at 7:30 a.m. Friday at the World Trade Center beam located at Fire Station No. 46, 17355 S. 68th Court.
The morning remembrance will include remarks from village officials and special guest speakers. A bagpiper will also participate, and attendees will observe a moment of silence for those who lost their lives.
The ceremony comes 25 years after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, when nearly 3,000 people were killed in attacks in New York City, at the Pentagon in Virginia and near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
Tinley Park& 39;s ceremony will center on its World Trade Center beam, providing residents in the southwest Chicago suburb and surrounding Cook County communities with a local place to gather and remember the victims, first responders and others affected by the attacks.
Those unable to attend in person will also have an opportunity to watch remotely. Village officials said the ceremony will be livestreamed through Tinley Park& 39;s Public Safety Facebook page.
The event is scheduled early Friday morning, so residents planning to attend should allow time to arrive before the 7:30 a.m. start.
Additional information about the ceremony and any updates are available through the Village of Tinley Park& 39;s official channels.
