According to the Village of Tinley Park Civil Service Commission, applications opened Wednesday, Oct. 7, for multiple full time Patrol Officer A 2 vacancies within the Tinley Park Police Department.
The advertised annual salary ranges from $89,627.20 to $123,323.20 , with positions classified as full time, 40 hour per week employment. The department also offers an employee benefits package and opportunities for specialized training and career advancement.
The hiring announcement targets entry level applicants rather than already certified officers.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens, generally between 21 and 35 years old at the time of examination, and meet specific educational or qualifying experience requirements. Certain exceptions to the age requirement may apply.
Candidates must meet at least one qualifying pathway, including a bachelor's degree, an associate degree or 60 college credits meeting specified coursework requirements, or qualifying prior service as a Tinley Park part time patrol officer.
Applicants must also provide a valid P.O.W.E.R. card issued within six months of the test date and possess a valid driver's license.
The department requires full time employees in these positions to establish residency within 30 miles of Tinley Park's boundaries within 12 months of employment. Indiana residency is not permitted.
Selected officers would perform patrol duties, respond to emergencies, investigate crimes, enforce traffic laws and assist with community policing.
The department has more than 150 employees, including 101 full time sworn positions.
Applications are reviewed as received, and the Civil Service Commission will contact applicants directly.
The application deadline is Nov. 6, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Central Time.
