Springfield, IL – Central Illinois residents can expect several more days of unusually mild late October weather before a changing pattern brings cooler temperatures and increasing rain chances this weekend. Afternoon highs could approach 80 degrees through Friday, Oct. 30, before conditions begin shifting Saturday, Oct. 31.
According to the National Weather Service Central Illinois office in Lincoln, mild and mostly dry conditions will continue across the region through much of the workweek. Forecasters expect a transition toward cooler and wetter weather this weekend and into early next week.
Tuesday, Oct. 27, will bring afternoon temperatures between 70 and 75 degrees , with partly cloudy skies and overnight temperatures falling into the 50s.
Wednesday, Oct. 28, brings another warm afternoon, with highs ranging from 75 to 80 degrees and overnight lows between 55 and 60 degrees.
Thursday and Friday, Oct. 29 30, could be the warmest stretch of the forecast. High temperatures are expected between 75 and 80 degrees across much of Central Illinois.
A few showers may develop north of Interstate 72, although precipitation probabilities remain relatively low at approximately 20% both days.
Communities including Springfield, Peoria, Bloomington and Champaign should experience generally favorable conditions for outdoor activities through Friday, with rain chances varying by location.
A more noticeable weather change arrives Saturday, Oct. 31.
The National Weather Service forecasts scattered showers with precipitation chances increasing to approximately 40%. Afternoon highs are expected to fall into the 70 to 75 degree range, while overnight temperatures settle into the middle 50s.
The developing pattern could bring additional opportunities for rainfall and cooler conditions heading into the first days of November.
For residents planning Halloween activities Saturday evening, the possibility of scattered showers makes checking updated forecasts particularly important.
While widespread severe weather is not indicated in the current outlook, residents should continue monitoring forecast updates as the timing and extent of the weekend rain become clearer
