Springfield, IL – Warm, mostly sunny and dry weather will continue across Central Illinois through Saturday, Oct. 10, with afternoon temperatures reaching the 70s and 80s and an elevated risk for field fires persisting through the week.
According to the National Weather Service in Central Illinois, high pressure will maintain clear skies and warm temperatures. Low relative humidity near 30% in some locations, combined with very dry fuels, will create an elevated risk for field fires.
A weak, dry cold front is expected to cross Central Illinois late Wednesday. Forecasters expect minimal weather impacts from the front, with no precipitation anticipated.
Tuesday's highs across the region are forecast to range from 75 to 78 degrees, followed by a warmer 79 to 86 Wednesday. Behind the front, Thursday highs fall to between 71 and 81 degrees.
Temperatures begin climbing again Friday, when highs are forecast from 73 to 80. Saturday is expected to be among the warmer days of the period, with highs ranging from 79 to 86 degrees.
Overnight lows will generally remain in the 40s and 50s. Tuesday night lows range from 49 to 57, followed by 51 to 55 Wednesday night and 46 to 51 Thursday night. Friday night lows range from 51 to 57, while Saturday night is milder at 57 to 61.
Rain chances remain below 10% through most of the period, with a 10% chance shown Saturday night.
Residents across Central Illinois should expect continued dry weather through the week, with the combination of low humidity and dry vegetation keeping the field fire risk elevated.
