Plainfield, IL – Drivers in Plainfield should prepare for temporary road closures and parking restrictions Sunday morning as the annual Harvest 5K/10K Run/Walk takes over streets around downtown and the Village Green Park.
According to the Plainfield Police Department , temporary closures are expected to begin around 8:15 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, ahead of the event. The kids' 1 mile run begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by the 5K/10K Run/Walk at 9:15 a.m.
Affected roads include portions of James, Fox River, Des Plaines, Illinois, Chicago, Ottawa and Commercial streets. Fort Beggs Drive and River Road will also be affected, along with all of River Court.
Parking will be prohibited on the affected streets during the event.
Police said the closures could temporarily restrict access to portions of downtown Plainfield and the area surrounding Plainfield Central High School.
The event is expected to conclude at approximately 11 a.m., with all affected roads reopening immediately afterward, according to police.
The run and walk are centered around the Village Green Park area, just south of downtown Plainfield. Motorists traveling through the community Sunday morning should allow additional time, watch for runners and follow temporary traffic controls.
Drivers who do not need to travel through the event area may want to use alternate routes until the race concludes.
