Peotone, IL – A barn fire in rural Will County prompted a multi department emergency response Friday evening, with firefighters quickly bringing the flames under control after encountering smoke and confirming an active fire inside the structure.
According to the Manhattan Fire Protection District , emergency crews were dispatched at approximately 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, to the 29000 block of South Joliet Road in Peotone following reports of a barn fire.
Firefighters arrived within four minutes of the initial emergency call and discovered smoke coming from the building.
After confirming a working fire, crews upgraded the response to a full still alarm, requesting additional firefighters and equipment.
Despite the expanded response, firefighters brought the blaze under control within approximately 10 minutes.
Officials confirmed that everyone evacuated safely and no injuries were reported among civilians or emergency personnel.
Mutual aid assistance came from the Beecher, Monee, Frankfort and Manteno fire protection districts.

Fire officials said the blaze appeared to be accidental in nature.
