Peoria, IL – A Peoria man faces multiple felony allegations after police say an investigation into the unlawful sale of controlled substances led officers to seize a handgun, ammunition, drugs and other evidence.
According to the Peoria Police Department , officers executed a search warrant Wednesday involving 39 year old Chester L. Dorsey and a residence in the 3000 block of W. Trewyn Avenue.
Before entering the residence, officers allegedly located Dorsey during a traffic stop and took him into custody without incident.
Police then searched the residence and reported finding a handgun, ammunition, illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia. Officers also allegedly found U.S. currency on Dorsey. Police did not specify the type or quantity of drugs seized or the amount of money recovered.
Dorsey was taken to the Peoria Police Department for questioning before being arrested, authorities said.
Police listed six charges: armed violence; unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver; unlawful possession of firearm ammunition without a Firearm Owner's Identification card; unlawful possession of a controlled substance; unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon; and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Dorsey was subsequently transported to the Peoria County Jail.
