Orland Park, IL – Drivers across Chicago's southwest suburbs should prepare for a temporary disruption in DMV services this week as an Illinois Secretary of State facility closes Thursday before reopening at a new location Monday, Nov. 9.
According to the Village of Orland Park, the temporary driver's services facility at 18230 Orland Parkway will permanently close at 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5.
Its replacement, the new Orland Hills DMV+ facility at 9291 159th St., will open Monday, Nov. 9, at 10 a.m.
The new office is located in the Walmart shopping plaza next to the Hallmark store, providing continued access to essential services for residents of Orland Park, Orland Hills and surrounding Cook County communities.
The relocation follows a 2025 dispute involving the Orland Township Board's cancellation of the previous driver's facility lease agreement.
Following that decision, nonprofit organization CTF Illinois provided temporary office space at no charge, allowing the Secretary of State's Office to maintain local services while securing a permanent replacement.
The new DMV+ facility will provide driver's licenses, state identification cards, REAL IDs, road tests, vehicle registration renewals, license plate renewals and replacement stickers.
Most services will require appointments, which can be scheduled through the Illinois Secretary of State's website.
License plate stickers and disability parking placards will remain available without appointments.
After the opening day, regular operating hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7:30 a.m. to noon Saturday.
Orland Park Mayor Jim Dodge thanked Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias, state Sen. Michael E. Hastings and CTF Illinois for helping preserve access to local services.
The move is particularly important for seniors, residents with disabilities and others who rely on nearby DMV services.
Residents planning DMV visits should note the closure dates and confirm appointment availability before traveling.
