Oak Brook, IL – A Chicago woman has been charged in connection with a shooting at Oak Brook Mall last week, with prosecutors announcing Monday that she faces three felony counts of attempted armed robbery.
According to the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office, 29 year old Chance Jamerson, of Chicago, was charged with three counts of attempted armed robbery, all Class 1 felonies. Authorities identified Jamerson as one of the women allegedly involved in the shooting.
Jamerson is expected to make her first court appearance later this week, prosecutors said. Officials did not immediately release additional details about the allegations against her, including the circumstances prosecutors allege led to the shooting or her specific alleged actions during the incident.
The charges were announced jointly by DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin and Oak Brook Police Chief Brian Strockis.
Oak Brook is in DuPage County, roughly 20 miles west of downtown Chicago. Oak Brook Mall draws shoppers from throughout Chicago's western suburbs, making developments surrounding the shooting relevant across the broader metropolitan area.
The State's Attorney's Office said no additional information regarding Jamerson's case could be released at this time. Officials said the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office and Oak Brook Police Department plan to issue a joint news release following her appearance in First Appearance Court.
The charges are allegations, and Jamerson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. Additional details are expected after her upcoming court appearance.
