Oak Brook, IL – Families across DuPage County looking for a Halloween activity this weekend can head to Fullersburg Woods for a pumpkin themed night hike featuring glowing lanterns, woodland trails and a scavenger hunt for children.
According to the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, the Pumpkin Night Hike for Families is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 16, and Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Fullersburg Woods Nature Education Center, located at 3609 Spring Road in Oak Brook.
The event invites families to explore the preserve after dark on a self guided hike, using pumpkins and lanterns to illuminate their way through the woods.
Children can participate in a Halloween themed scavenger hunt along the trail, with a treat waiting for them at the end.
Hikes depart every 15 minutes, allowing families to explore the trails at their own pace. The final group leaves at 7:30 p.m., and trails close at 9 p.m.
Admission is $10 per person for visitors ages 3 and older. Children younger than 3 can attend free. All ages are welcome, although children younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
The event offers a seasonal outdoor alternative to traditional Halloween celebrations, combining nature exploration with family friendly activities.
Fullersburg Woods is located near several western Chicago suburbs, including Hinsdale, Westmont, Downers Grove and Elmhurst, making the event accessible to families throughout the surrounding area.
Visitors are encouraged to plan ahead, particularly if attending with younger children, since the activity takes place outdoors after sunset.
