New Lenox, IL – Families across New Lenox and surrounding Will County communities have an opportunity to receive extra support this Christmas as the village launches its 2026 Adopt A Family Program, with important application deadlines approaching in November.
According to the Village of New Lenox, the annual holiday initiative connects families experiencing financial hardship with individuals, businesses and organizations willing to sponsor gifts and provide assistance during the holiday season.
The village is now accepting applications from both potential sponsors and families seeking support.
Sponsorship applications must be submitted by Wednesday, Nov. 4, while families requesting assistance have until Friday, Nov. 13, to apply.
Over the past two holiday seasons, the program has received 195 sponsorship applications from community members, helping 89 local families experience a brighter Christmas.
The initiative has also collected more than $6,000 in donated gift cards, providing additional assistance for groceries, household essentials and other necessities.
Village officials hope to continue that success in 2026 by encouraging residents to participate.
Individuals, families, local businesses and community organizations can apply to sponsor a household and help fulfill holiday wishes.
Residents who cannot sponsor an entire family can still contribute through gift card donations.
The village is also encouraging families experiencing financial difficulties to apply for assistance rather than miss the opportunity for additional holiday support.

With the first deadline just over a week away, interested sponsors are encouraged to submit their applications promptly.
Village officials are also asking residents to share the program with neighbors, friends and relatives who may want to participate or could benefit from assistance.
The program aims to bring the New Lenox community together while making Christmas more manageable for local families facing hardships.
