Naperville, IL – Naperville residents have just days to prepare for the city's fall leaf collection program, with the first round of curbside pickups beginning Monday, Oct. 19, and city officials reminding homeowners that improperly placed leaves could be left behind.
According to the City of Naperville, the first of three scheduled bulk curbside leaf collection cycles begins Monday, with crews continuing collection throughout the following two weeks.
The program allows residents to dispose of fallen leaves without placing them in bags, but officials are emphasizing several important rules to keep the process running smoothly.
Three Leaf Collection Cycles Scheduled
The city has announced three collection cycles for this fall:
First cycle: Monday, Oct. 19 Second cycle: Monday, Nov. 2 Third cycle: Monday, Nov. 16 All collection dates are weather permitting.
Crews will collect leaves once in front of each home during each cycle, meaning residents who miss their pickup must wait until the next scheduled round.
Important Rules Before Monday's Pickup
Residents should place leaves in piles along the curb before collection begins.
Only loose leaves should be included. Branches, twigs, rocks, lumber and other debris must be kept out of leaf piles because they can damage collection equipment.
Officials also warn residents not to park vehicles on top of leaf piles, as crews will be unable to remove leaves blocked by parked cars.
The city recommends having leaves ready before Monday to avoid missing the first collection cycle.
Additional Yard Waste Options Available
Residents who miss a bulk pickup can still dispose of leaves through the city's bagged yard waste collection program.
Naperville officials remind homeowners that collection schedules may be affected by weather conditions.
With autumn leaves continuing to fall across DuPage and Will counties, residents are encouraged to prepare early and follow city guidelines to ensure their leaves are collected.
