Bolingbrook, IL – A devastating accident on Interstate 55 claimed the life of a motorcyclist early this morning near the I-355 interchange.
According to Illinois State Police, the crash occurred at around 12:44 AM. The motorcyclist, while transitioning from the I-355 southbound ramp to I-55 northbound, lost control. The severe impact caused the motorcycle to skid across the northbound lanes, and the rider was ejected over the median into the southbound lanes.
A vehicle traveling southbound on I-55 then struck the ejected motorcyclist, resulting in fatal injuries. The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene. A subsequent collision occurred when a northbound vehicle on I-55 collided with the abandoned motorcycle, leading to a rollover. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported. The incident is under ongoing investigation by the state police, who are examining the sequence of events leading to this tragic outcome.
