Lombard, IL Candlelit Cemetery Tours Set for Oct. 2-3

Lombard, IL – History, mystery and local stories will take center stage after dark this week as Tales + Tombstones returns to Lombard Cemetery for two nights of candlelit tours.
According to the Lombard Historical Society, the annual event will be held Friday, Oct. 2, and Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lombard Cemetery, 462 S. Main St. in DuPage County.
Presented in partnership with the Lombard Park District , Tales + Tombstones takes visitors on a lantern lit guided walk through what organizers describe as the village’s oldest resting place.
During the tour, participants will “meet” some of Lombard’s earliest residents through historical storytelling focused on people buried in the cemetery. Organizers say the program changes from year to year, meaning returning visitors may hear stories they have not encountered during previous tours.
Tickets are $25 for guests ages 13 and older and $5 for children ages 3 through 12.
The Lombard Historical Society advises visitors to prepare for uneven ground throughout the cemetery and to bring a flashlight for navigating the property after dark.
The event combines local history with a seasonal atmosphere as Halloween approaches, offering families and history enthusiasts an opportunity to learn more about Lombard’s past in an unusual setting.
Organizers describe the experience as a chance to hear stories from generations of local residents while exploring the cemetery by candlelight.
