Lincoln, IL – Central Illinois could experience record breaking October heat early next week, with temperatures potentially reaching 93 degrees Monday as an unusually warm weather pattern settles across the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Central Illinois, the remnants of Hurricane Isaias are expected to have limited effects on the area after the storm's track shifted farther east.
Light rain showers may reach southeastern Illinois Saturday evening, but forecasters expect rainfall totals to remain below one tenth of an inch.
Skies will gradually clear from west to east Sunday, setting the stage for several days of unusually warm temperatures.
Monday Could Bring Record Breaking Heat Sunday afternoon temperatures are forecast to reach 80 to 86 degrees across Central Illinois.
The warmest conditions are expected Monday, Oct. 12, when highs could climb between 88 and 93 degrees.
National Weather Service forecasters say some daily record high temperatures will likely be broken Monday, with additional records possible Tuesday.
Tuesday's temperatures are expected to range from 82 to 92 degrees, continuing the stretch of summerlike weather well into October.
Hurricane Isaias Expected to Miss Most of Illinois Despite the storm's remnants affecting other parts of the country, Central Illinois is expected to avoid significant rainfall from Isaias.
The eastward shift in the system's track has reduced its anticipated impact, including across southeastern portions of the state.
Any showers Saturday evening should remain light, with improving conditions expected Sunday.
Cooler Conditions Arrive Wednesday The extended period of above normal warmth is expected to begin easing Wednesday, Oct. 14.
Afternoon temperatures should fall into the 73 to 84 degree range, with additional rain chances returning to parts of the region.
