Lemont, IL – A major investment in emergency services is taking shape in the southwest Chicago suburbs as construction continues on a new $11 million fire station designed to improve emergency response times and accommodate future community growth.
According to the Lemont Fire Protection District, construction is underway on a new 18,000 square foot Station 3 at 1051 International Parkway in Woodridge, replacing the district's existing station built in 1994.
The new facility is strategically located to improve emergency response times while providing additional space for personnel, equipment and future expansion.
Construction officially began May 20, 2026, with completion anticipated in May 2027.
The $11 million project represents a significant infrastructure investment for the fire protection district, which serves communities in the southwest Chicago metropolitan area.
Once operational, the station will initially accommodate three firefighters and paramedics, with space available for additional staffing as emergency service demands increase.
The facility will also include an apparatus bay designed to house a fire engine, ambulance, reserve vehicles and other support equipment.
The additional capacity is intended to support emergency medical services, fire suppression operations and other critical responses throughout the district's coverage area.
The project is part of the district's broader station construction and infrastructure improvement efforts, with architectural renderings also available for other district facilities.
For residents and businesses served by Station 3, the new location and expanded facility are intended to strengthen emergency readiness as the surrounding area continues to develop.
The district has not announced an exact opening date beyond its anticipated May 2027 completion timeline.
