Dixon, IL – The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information after a dog was found abandoned on PawPaw and Chicago Roads on Sunday and later died.

According to a Facebook post by the Lee County Animal Control, the dog was discovered in distress and succumbed to the extreme heat despite receiving care. Authorities believe the dog’s death was caused by the abandonment and exposure to high temperatures.

They are asking anyone with information about the owner or who witnessed the incident to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (815) 284-6631 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CAUGHT-U. Callers can remain anonymous and may receive a reward of up to $1,000 if their information leads to an arrest.
