Kankakee County Kankakee, IL – Jose Vazquez, a 39 year old man, has been found guilty on multiple counts of sexual assault against a minor.
Kankakee County State’s Attorney Jim Rowe announced on Friday that a jury found Jose Vazquez guilty of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, criminal sexual assault, and other related charges. The charges stemmed from a long term investigation into the abuse of a child.
Following the verdict, prosecutors noted that due to the nature of the crimes and the multiple counts involved, Vazquez could face a sentence of over 300 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
“This verdict is a testament to the courage of the victim and the hard work of our investigators,” said State’s Attorney Rowe. “We hope this brings some sense of closure and justice to the family involved.”
Sentencing for Vazquez is scheduled for a later date in Kankakee County Circuit Court.
