The next vice president for academic affairs at Kankakee Community College will be Kiana Battle, Ed.D., an academic leader who has recorded success at multiple institutions of higher education.
Battle will fill the position previously held by David Naze, Ph.D., who left KCC June 30.
"Dr. Battle brings a wealth of experience in curriculum development, faculty support and student success initiatives," said Michael Boyd, Ph.D., KCC president. "We are confident that her leadership will further our mission of creating exceptional learning opportunities."
Battle has most recently served as the dean of academic affairs at the College of Lake County. Prior to that, she held positions in academic administration at other community colleges in the Midwest. She holds a doctorate in educational leadership from Argosy University, a master's degree in human resources from Keller Graduate School of Management, and a bachelor's degree in business administration from Chicago State University.
"I am honored to join Kankakee Community College and work alongside such a dedicated team of faculty and staff," Battle said. "I look forward to building on the college's strong foundation and working to ensure all students have the resources they need to achieve their academic and career goals."
Battle's first day at KCC is scheduled for Jan. 4, 2021.
