The annual transformation of the old General Foods building into a popular “Haunted Factory” appears to be at a standstill. State Fire Marshal inspectors reportedly issued 63 failure counts against the facility, located off Hobbie Avenue, casting significant doubt on its ability to open for the Halloween season.
The violations, which cover a wide range of fire safety and building code compliance measures, were documented during recent inspections. The sheer volume of non compliance issues makes the necessary remediation unlikely within the tight window remaining before the typical opening dates for such attractions.
For years, the location has served as a staple for local seasonal entertainment. However, the findings from the State Fire Marshal highlight serious concerns regarding occupant safety, including issues with egress, fire suppression, and building structural integrity.
As of now, the organizers have not released an official statement regarding the future of this year's production, but given the severity of the 63 failed citations, many community members fear the doors will remain closed for the year.
