Joliet, IL – A former Joliet police lieutenant faces two felony charges after an Illinois State Police investigation into allegations that he misused the city's Flock camera system for personal benefit.
According to Illinois State Police, Jeremy Harrison, 50, of Plainfield, was charged with computer tampering and official misconduct, both Class 3 felonies, following an investigation that began in October 2025.
The Joliet City Inspector General requested the state police investigation while Harrison was serving as a lieutenant with the Joliet Police Department , authorities said. The request followed an allegation that Harrison had allegedly been using the city's Flock system for personal benefit.
Flock Safety technology is commonly used by law enforcement agencies to assist investigations through camera and vehicle related data. Illinois State Police did not provide details about how Harrison allegedly used Joliet's system or what personal benefit he allegedly received.
Following the investigation, Illinois State Police and the Illinois Appellate Special Prosecutor presented the case to a Will County grand jury.
Harrison was subsequently charged with one count of computer tampering and one count of official misconduct. State police identified him as a former Joliet police officer when announcing the charges.
Authorities said no additional information was available, and no booking photo was released with the announcement.
The charges are allegations and do not constitute evidence of guilt. Harrison is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
The case brings felony allegations involving police technology to Joliet, the Will County seat and a major community in the southwest Chicago metropolitan area.
