Joliet Mayor to Governor: IDPH full investigation for Symphony COVID 19 deaths It’s been two days since 23 deaths were reported at Symphony of Joliet nursing home. While other area nursing homes in the City of Joliet have reported cases of COVID 19, none have experienced the loss of life seen at the Symphony location.
Joliet Mayor Bob O’Dekirk has written a letter to Governor J.B. Pritzker, requesting that the Illinois Department of Public Health IDPH conduct a full investigation into the facility.
"Our residents and families deserve to know what is happening inside these facilities," O’Dekirk stated in the letter. "The sheer volume of deaths at this single location is alarming and warrants an immediate and transparent review by state health officials."
The nursing home industry has been hit particularly hard by the pandemic, but the situation in Joliet has caused significant concern among city officials and the families of residents.
