Joliet, IL – Two men were injured, one critically, after an overnight shooting in Joliet that also left three homes struck by gunfire, according to police.
According to the Joliet Police Department , officers responded to the 700 block of Henry Street around 10:50 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports of gunfire nearby. Police found a 22 year old man suffering from gunshot wounds to his leg and foot.
A second victim, a 20 year old man, was located inside a residence with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers provided medical assistance until Joliet Fire Department paramedics arrived.
Both men were initially transported to Silver Cross Hospital. Police said the 22 year old was listed in stable condition. The 20 year old was later transferred to a Chicago hospital and remained in critical condition as of Sunday's police update.
Investigators said preliminary information indicates suspects in two separate vehicles allegedly fired toward the victims while the men were sitting in a parked vehicle. Three nearby homes were also hit by gunfire, but no additional injuries were reported.
Officers and detectives canvassed the area and recovered multiple spent shell casings. Police later found both vehicles believed to have been involved abandoned in separate areas of Joliet.
No arrests have been announced, and investigators said the motive remains unknown.
