Joliet, IL – The Will County Sheriff ’s Office has announced that it will host a formal 25th anniversary memorial ceremony to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001. The event is scheduled to take place on Friday, September 11, 2026, at Joliet City Square, located at 91 N. Chicago St.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the ceremony will begin at 9:00 a.m. The event, titled the “25th Anniversary Memorial Ceremony,” aims to honor fallen heroes and remember those who perished in the attacks. The organizers emphasized the theme of being “United in Remembrance, Stronger Together” as the community gathers to pay tribute to the resilience shown in the wake of the tragedy.
Local law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical service representatives are expected to participate in the solemn occasion. The location of Joliet City Square will provide a central space for members of the public to join their neighbors, local officials, and first responders in observing this significant anniversary. No cost is associated with attending, and the public is invited to participate in the morning tribute.
