Glen Ellyn, IL – Residents in Glen Ellyn may notice a large presence of police and other emergency personnel Tuesday as the village conducts an emergency management training exercise.
According to the Glen Ellyn Police Department , the department is hosting the Village of Glen Ellyn's emergency management training exercise Tuesday, Oct. 6. Officials advised the public about the activity to avoid confusion or concern over the increased presence of emergency personnel.
The exercise is planned training and does not prevent residents from accessing regular police services, according to the department.
Police said the department's lobby remains open to the community during the exercise. Residents who need police assistance can continue visiting the department for services as usual.
Anyone requiring an officer can also call 911, and an officer will respond to the caller's location to take a report, police said.
Officials did not provide additional details about the training scenario or specify how long the exercise is expected to continue Tuesday.
Emergency management exercises allow local agencies and personnel to practice their response procedures before an actual emergency occurs. The visible activity associated with Tuesday's exercise could include a larger than normal concentration of emergency personnel around the Glen Ellyn Police Department.
Glen Ellyn is in DuPage County, approximately 25 miles west of downtown Chicago. Residents traveling near the police department Tuesday should be aware that the increased emergency presence is connected to the scheduled training exercise.
