Elmhurst, IL – Residents in the western Chicago suburbs may notice increased police activity in several Elmhurst neighborhoods beginning Tuesday, October 13, as officers conduct specialized tactical training at four residential properties through Thursday.
According to the Elmhurst Police Department , the scheduled exercises will take place October 13 15, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., at four vacant homes throughout the city.
The department identified the following training locations:
369 N. Walnut St. 157 N. Oak St. 719 S. Hawthorne Ave. 709 S. Euclid Ave. The training involves Elmhurst police officers working alongside personnel from neighboring law enforcement agencies through Illinois' mutual aid system.
Police said the exercises are part of standard specialized training designed to help tactical officers maintain their skills and prepare for situations requiring coordinated law enforcement responses.
Residents living near the listed properties have been notified that police vehicles may be parked in their neighborhoods during the exercises.
Officials emphasized that the activity is scheduled training and does not indicate an actual emergency.
To minimize disruptions, all exercises will be limited to the interiors of the vacant homes.
The department said the training is intended to ensure officers remain experienced, professional and effective when responding to situations that require specialized police resources.
For residents traveling through Elmhurst or living near the four locations, the most noticeable impact may be the presence of additional police vehicles during daytime hours.
No road closures or traffic restrictions were announced in the department's notification.
The training is scheduled to conclude Thursday, October 15.
