Elmhurst, IL – A months long undercover drug investigation in Chicago's western suburbs has resulted in multiple felony charges against a Villa Park man accused of selling methamphetamine to a police officer on three separate occasions in DuPage County.
According to DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin and Elmhurst Police Chief Michael McLean, Peter Thomas, 35, of Villa Park , allegedly sold methamphetamine to an undercover officer during transactions spanning September and October 2026.
Thomas, of the 500 block of East Park Boulevard, appeared in First Appearance Court Thursday, October 29, where a judge denied prosecutors' request to detain him before trial.
Three Alleged Undercover Drug Purchases
Investigators reportedly began targeting suspected methamphetamine distribution in the DuPage County area in late August.
Prosecutors allege Thomas arranged an initial transaction involving approximately 4.26 grams of methamphetamine for $40 on September 1 at a business in the 100 block of West First Street in Elmhurst.
Authorities allege two additional purchases occurred at Thomas' residence, involving approximately 3.27 grams on September 30 and 7.33 grams on October 28.
Following the final alleged transaction, officers arrested Thomas outside the Elmhurst business.
Investigators reported recovering approximately 29.48 grams of suspected methamphetamine from his pants pocket.
Multiple Felony Charges Filed
Thomas faces three counts of delivery of methamphetamine, including one Class 1 felony and two Class 2 felonies.
He also faces a Class X felony charge of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, along with misdemeanor charges involving resisting a police officer and unlawful cannabis possession by a driver.
Thomas was released under court imposed conditions after his initial appearance.
His next hearing is scheduled for Monday, November 23 , before Judge Ann Celine O'Hallaren Walsh.
Elmhurst, Villa Park and Chicago police departments assisted in the investigation.
All charges are allegations, and Thomas is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
