CRETE TOWNSHIP, IL – A reward for information about six dogs found dead in garbage bags along a rural Will County roadway has reportedly increased to $25,000, as investigators continue seeking answers in a disturbing animal cruelty case dating back to March.
Crime Stoppers of Will County announced the increased reward for information leading to an arrest in connection with the deaths of six pit bulls discovered near Kings Road and Norfolk Avenue in Crete Township.
The dogs were reportedly discovered in March 2026 after township workers encountered several black garbage bags near the intersection.
Inside the bags were the bodies of six pit bulls, each weighing approximately 45 to 55 pounds.
According to the report, Will County authorities indicated that the animals showed signs consistent with possible involvement in dogfighting. Investigators reportedly described the dogs as having been brutally killed before their bodies were discarded.
Authorities previously released a blurred image of the animals in hopes that someone might recognize their coloring and provide information about their origins.
The reported $25,000 reward includes $5,000 from First Secure Bank Group and $20,000 from Pets and Vets USA.
Crime Stoppers of Will County reportedly described the amount as the largest reward in the organization's history.
The reward is intended to encourage witnesses or anyone familiar with the dogs to provide information that could help investigators identify those responsible.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers of Will County at 1 800 323 6734 or text 274637 .
Tips can reportedly be submitted anonymously, and reward eligibility is subject to program requirements, including someone being charged.
No arrests or suspects were identified in the information provided.
Investigators continue seeking information that could help explain what happened to the six animals.
