Illinois Man Charged with Murder Following Infant’s Death in Lansing

LANSING, IL – Authorities have charged 24-year-old Joshua B. McGhee with First Degree Murder following the death of his 2-month-old infant child.

According to police reports the incident occurred late Tuesday night at Motel 6 on Bernice Road, was initially investigated by the Lansing Police and Fire Departments. The subsequent investigation, involving the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit, determined the cause of death as blunt force trauma to the girl’s head, leading to the classification of the case as a homicide. 

McGhee, formerly a resident of Lansing, also faces charges for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. His first appearance in court was Friday at the Cook County Courthouse.
